Craziness

I think the craziness of my life has begun!!!! After not having much trouble my entire pregnancy, now it has begun!!!! As if bed rest isn't bad enough...Joel and I were out on the roads bright (not really-it was still dark) and early this morning. I had a headache yesterday, but it wasn't too bad. Around 8:00 last night, I started having some serious issues. I took the medicine that my doctor had given me when my headaches began, but it didn't touch it!! I went to bed hoping that it would go away while I was sleeping. Yea right!!!! I was up all night, and I kept Joel up all night. One of the warning signs of my blood pressure increasing, is a terrible headache. I began to get a little scared, and I was afraid that Isabel wasn't getting enough oxygen, or blood flow. We called the doctors office and had them get in touch with the on call doctor. She said that we definitely needed to go in to Labor and Delivery. At 4:15, I was calling my mom to have her come over to watch Garrett while we went in. I didn't think we were ever going to get there. We finally got to L & D around 5:20 and they got me checked in. I didn't think they were ever going to give me anything to take the pain away, but they finally gave me a shot and it made me really sleepy. Joel said that once I went to sleep, my blood pressure went down. Thank goodness!!! They let us go home around 8:00. Needless to say, I have slept all day and now I am afraid I won't be able to sleep tonight!!! We'll see!!!!

33 Weeks
~Amniotic fluid is at its highest level during your pregnancy.
~Your baby's head size has increased 3/8ths of an inch due to rapid brain growth.
~Neurons and synapses are developing in huge numbers -- forming connections in your baby's brain will give him the skills he needs to thrive as a newborn. This week, he may be able to coordinate sucking and swallowing with breathing.
~While most of his bones are hardening, his skull is quite pliable and not completely joined. The bones will be able to move slightly to make birthing easier.
~You baby takes intermittent deep breaths -- of water! That's okay, though since she gets oxygen from the placenta. This breathing exercises muscles and encourages her lung cells to produce more surfactant (a protein essential for healthy lung development).
~If your baby is a boy, his testicles will be descending from his abdomen into his scrotum. Sometimes one or both testicles won't move into position until after birth.
~Your infant is now 17.2 inches (43.7cm) long and weighs 4.23 pounds (1918gm).

Stress Test Anyone??

I went to the doctor today...again. I feel like I live at the doctor's office!!! My blood pressure was down a little bit, but not enough for her to let me go back to work. She told me that I better just get used to staying home because until Isabel arrives, I will not be going back to work. I can hope though!!! My tummy is measuring a little larger than 32 weeks, but that doesn't particularly mean anything!!! One week I will measure larger and then the next week, I will measure right on target. I think it depends how stretched out Isabel is.

I had a Non Stress Test today. They hooked me up to a monitor and watched Isabel's heartrate, how frequently she moved, and my uterine changes---and watched me for an hour. The purpose of this is to make sure that she is still moving and that her heartrate is still good. I will have to go in to have these done twice a week now!!! Monday's and Thursday's will be my days out on the town!!! I did get quite a bit of reading done while I was strapped to the monitor...I guess there has to be something good out of all this!!!

I have recently started suffering from insomnia!!! I think that is worse than sitting around the house all day. At least during the day there is something on TV. At 4:00am there is nothing on but infomercials!!!!! I hope to not have many nights of this!!!! Don't be surprised if you get emails from me at weird hours of the night!!!!

That's all for today...keep the emails coming!!!

32 Weeks

Slowly but surely...we are getting there. I am in my 3rd week of bed rest and hating every minute of it. Let me clarify bed rest for you though....I am not confined to my bed. I spend all day on the couch or in a chair. I am not one of those people that actually spends all day in bed. How depressing would that be????

I have finished my steroid shots. I had the first one Monday and then second one yesterday. OUCH those things burn like fire!!!!! I am glad I only had to do that twice!!!! Hopefully they won't make me start to get puffy. I have heard they can make you swell up, and I am not feeling like that would be something I would enjoy!!!

I have ordered Garrett's new carseat!!!! YEA!!!! It should be here by the end of the week. It shipped yesterday, so we will see if I receive it. I hope he likes it...he has outgrown his seat already!!! You know they have a weight limit and he is a BIG boy!!!!!

My mom has been coming over almost every day to take care of Garrett. It is nice being able to see him every day, all day!! The days she doesn't come here, Joel takes Garrett to her house and then he picked him up after work.

Slowly we are working on Isabel's room. I am waiting to have a phone jack put in my house in order to move my computer, but that is really all I am waiting on. As soon as that is done, I can get the computer moved, the TV taken to my parents, the VCR moved to our room, and then....painting can start!!! Painting might actually start before all of that though...it depends on Greg and Laura's schedule!!! Do I have great friends or what??? They are going to come over and do all of the painting for me. I need to measure the walls and order the wall paper border so we can get it up after the paint dries.

Since my mom doesn't really have anything left to do in Isabel's room, I have her on another task...on top of the house cleaning, laundry, babysitting, lunch making...and everything else she does while she is here. She is actually at Wal Mart right now buying some paint and she is going to paint our hall bathroom. I have been putting it off, so she is going to do it for me. Hopefully once that is done, she can start on our bedroom and then our bathroom. That would mean that all of the rooms in our house will finally be painted!!!!!!
32 Weeks
~Your baby is up to 3.75 pounds (1702gm) now and is 16.7 inches (42.4cm) long.
~You might notice she's not moving around as much now. Don't worry! She is fine -- just running short on room. She still has plenty of growing to do though, believe it or not!
~All five senses are working. Your little one is fascinated and practicing testing these out as much as possible!
~Toenails are completely formed even though she may not be quite ready for a French manicure.
~Hair on your infant's head continues to grow in. Will he have dad's black hair or your red hair?
~Brain scans have shown that babies have periods of dream sleep (REM) starting around the eight month. What do you suppose your son is dreaming about?

SOS-Same Old Stuff

I went to the doctor today for my weekly visit. My blood pressure was still up unfortunately. The results of the ultrasound are good. My doctor is happy with the growth of Isabel. She said my amniotic fluid level looked good, and everything else they check while they are taking a peak at our little girl. She did tell me that I need to go in for 2 consecutive steroid shots to boost lung development. She wants to make sure that everything is done to make sure Isabel is healthy---just in case. My guess is that she will let me go another 4-5 weeks and then consider inducing me. I am assuming this because she has referenced 4-5 weeks a couple of times in our conversations. I have another ultrasound scheduled for the end of the month to check all of things that she checked earlier this week.

Garrett is rolling over like a real champ now. He rolled over twice today for Joel!!! We were so excited to see it. I was bummed that he didn't ever roll over last night so Joel could see him. I have a feeling he will be rolling all over the house now!!!

That is all that is going on with us, what is going on with you???
